Nail fungus is forever, unless you get professional treatment. Even then it may return. As to whether your nail will grow back properly, possibly not. It depends on the amount of damage already done. There is a good chance that if it is bad enough to notice, it will always look a little bad. Be advised, the prescription strength treatments are serious. You will have to take blood tests and be regularly checked for liver damage. Some people say that using a muscle relaxant called Absorbine Jr will clear it up or at least make it look better, others advise soaking it in a vinegar/water solution. If you decide to go to a podiatrist, make sure you don't use any over the counter remedies for at least 2 weeks prior or it won't show up in tests as fungus.

You have to get a certain medicine to get rid of it. I am not sure of the name. That is the only way to get rid of it. Your nails should return to normal after the fungus is gone.
