If it's a mild case you can trim the nails as deep as possible without hurting yourself! and try soaking your affected fingers in diluted bleach for 15 to 20 minutes every night or when you have time to spare. Oil or ,moisturize your cuticles and nails well after wards. Otherwise, you should really see a doctor or at least let your pharmacist give you something. Batrafen and Lamisil work pretty good. There are herbal remedies available too such as mixtures of Tea Tree oil, Neem Seed Oil and Lemon Oil. I can't remember the name of the company that actually manufactures that particular mix but I guess you can buy the oils and mix it your self. Apply tea tree oil directly to the nail. Also, you might consider going to a health food/supplements store; there are some homeopathic formulas that would probably help to clear it up really quickly.
The infection is actually in your nail bed, which is the tissue directly beneath the toe nail. The medicines currently available to treat the condition take as long as 6 months to eliminate the fungus. Besides surgery, which would remove the fungus but also sometimes the nail itself, I do not know of any quick fix options, although if you can locate a website for podiatry, it may have more information.
